Firenze (Florence)

I took an express train from Rome to Florence (1 hr 35 mins). The Airbnb here is an apartment inside a building that has been owned by the same family since the 1600s. The host Francesco (who has a computer science degree) has been renovating the second floor with funding provided by his father. He has created five flats that will all be Airbnb. I think that his family live in the rest of this floor of the building but his uncle owns the floor above. He showed me round the building which has amazing painted ceilings. He will rent out a large meeting room for wedding parties he hopes. All the flats have modern appliances etc. It is right in the middle of Florence and most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance as was the railway sation. The entrance is off a very narrow street.
To get there one walked through an extensive underground shopping mall.
