The Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill

This was the first tour I did with CityWonders - a tour group that enables you to skip the line and provides excellent knowledgeable guides. Everyone has in ear speakers (buds) and that is how you listen to the commentary from the guide. There are huge crowds moving through these popular attractions so one would not otherwise not be able to hear. One is constantly aware that all that one is watching is more than 2000 years old. The guide on this tour was Manuela. She had a degree in art archeology and was very knowledgeable about all the buildings and ruins on the tour.  

  

The Colosseum was constructed in AD 72-80 under the Flavian emperors and was originally known as the Flavian Ampithithre.
